All the school went to El Jardin Botanico where we had St. Gregory's balloon release. Lots of colourful helium-filled balloons were allowed to float into the sky together with heart wishes to make our world a better one!

On November the children are taking their international exams so I thought this is great information for you to know a little more about the exams:
We are practicing every week so as to get acquainted with the examinations and be ready to give a great exam. Children, please do not forget to study at home and revise your mistakes. If you have any doubts, write them and bring them to class so that we can discuss them together.

Why take the test?
Cambridge English: Flyers is aimed at children in primary and lower secondary education and is designed to give them the confidence to improve even further in English.
Cambridge English: Flyers is the highest of the three Cambridge English: Young Learners tests. Once children have taken Cambridge English: Flyers, they can begin to aim for the next test:
Cambridge English: Flyers is designed to motivate children and give them lots of confidence to use their English. The test:
- is based on familiar topics and situations
- develops the skills children need to communicate in English.
As children develop in confidence, they will be motivated to learn more English and use it at a more challenging level.
What level is Cambridge English: Flyers?
The Cambridge English: Flyers test is set at Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At this level children can:
- understand simple written English
- communicate in familiar situations
- understand short notices and simple spoken directions
- understand and use basic phrases and expressions
- introduce themselves and answer basic questions about their personal details
- interact with English speakers who talk slowly and clearly
- write short, simple notes
With Cambridge English: Flyers, children continue to develop practical, real-life English language skills that will help them:
- use the internet and other media in English
- enjoy books, songs, television and films in English
- make friends globally
- use English as the common international language
- get ready for future study and work success
With Cambridge English: Flyers, there is no pass or fail. Every child gets a Cambridge English award, celebrating their achievement, building their confidence and rewarding them for developing their communication skills.
The award shows how many shields a child has received. If they get 10 or 11 shields and above, they should be ready to start preparing for:

Who are the Graded Exams in Spoken English (GESE) for?
Trinity's Graded Examiniations in Spoken English are suitable for candidates who have learnt English as a foreign, second or additional language. They are one-to-one oral exams that test candidates' ability in listening and speaking.
Candidates must be at least 5 years old at the time of the examination. There is no upper age limit.
There is a GESE grade to suit every candidate. The language requirements for each grade are shown clearly in the GESE Exam Information booklet. Please read the booklet carefully to decide which grade is most suitable for the candidate's language level and abilities. About GESE
There are 12 GESE grades. The grades are grouped into four stages: Initial; Elementary; Intermediate and Advanced.

The number of tasks in an exam depends on the stage. New tasks and increasing demands on the candidate skills are introduced at each stage.
Assessment approach
It's the examiner's job to put candidates at their ease and give them the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to communicate in English.
The assessment is a balance between fluency and accuracy. Examiners are interested in finding out what candidates can actually can do rather than what they know.
